FURIA dismantle eUnited, proceed to grand finals

FURIA have proven themselves once again against the North American competition.

The last series of the day and the first semifinals of the event, FURIA went up against eUnited, who were invited to the event with a high seed. After beating compLexity 2-1 in the quarterfinals, the Brazillians looked to do the same in the semifinals.

eUnited started on FURIA's pick of Overpass with a strong CT side, gaining a 7-1 lead in the first eight rounds. However, as FURIA became to compose themselves and slowly chip away rounds from eUnited with strong fragging from Yuri "yuurih" Santos. At the end of the first half, eUnited still retained their lead 9-6, but FURIA's strong resilience put into question whether eUnited could maintain control of the game.

That question was soon answered in the second half, as eUnited retained their lead and dominated the second half off the backs of Will "dazzLe" Loafman and Skyler "Relyks" Weaver. On the terrorist side, the North Americans won seven straight rounds to close out the first map 16-6 and give themselves the lead in the series.

eUnited's map pick, Inferno, initially began well for the North Americans with a pistol round, but quickly spiraled into dominance from FURIA as eUnited were unable to halt Kaike "kscerato" Cerato. After ten straight round wins from FURIA, eUnited were finally able to get a few more rounds for themselves and ending the half 11-4.

The North Americans were finally able to string together more than two rounds at the start of the second half, taking five rounds off the board with dazzLe clutching out a 1v3 in the process. At 11-9 in FURIA's favor, eUnited were close to equalizing the score and turning the tides in their favor, however FURIA were able to recover and returned to their dominant form from the first half with kscerato leading the charge. Shutting down eUnited, FURIA took the second map 16-9 and pushed the series to the decider map of Cache.

FURIA's strong aggression and fragging continued into the third map, as eUnited were only able to collect a few rounds. At the end of the first half, yuurih had a total of 21 kills with FURIA leading 12-3.

After a scrappy pistol win thanks to a 1v2 from Michael "dapr" Gulino, eUnited were able to gain four rounds for themselves and begin the process of closing the scoreline gap. However, after a loss to a FURIA eco in the 21st round due to four kills from Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo, eUnited's economy had collapsed and they had no choice left but to force buy. With a weak eUnited, FURIA were able to string together the last three rounds they needed to close the map 16-7 and take the series 2-1.
