This new lineup reunites Jonji and ptr from their Riot Squad and Bad News Bears days

ex-Chaos take form with Jonji, ptr, Swisher, Spongey, alter

This new lineup marks the return of ptr, Spongey, and alter to competition after extended breaks.

After being on the hunt for a new quartet to rebuild their ranks, ex-Chaos have announced the additions of Peter "ptr" Gurney, Michael "Swisher" Schmid, Gabe "Spongey" Greiner, and Nick "alter" Jackson.

The addition of the new quartet marks the end of a rebuilding period for Jonathan "Jonji" Carey and Matthew "mCe" Elmore as the former Chaos lineup slowly dissolved. Anthony "vanity" Malaspina moved over to VALORANT at the start of the year while Nathan "leaf" Orf  is seemingly set to join Cloud9 Blue in VALORANT after standing-in on multiple occasions. Erick "Xeppaa" Bach meanwhile is reportedly set to stay in CS:GO and join the European Cloud9 lineup while Dust2.us knows that Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado is still weighing his options for 2021.

This new lineup will see a return to activity for a number of players after extended periods of teamlessness. Of these, ptr has been inactive for the longest period of time, taking a break from competition after Bad News Bears disbanded in May. Likewise, alter has not been part of a permanent lineup since June after playing his last match with Buffdaddy's Paypal Team during ESEA MDL Season 34.

Spongey has also been looking for a new home since September, being sidelined by Triumph in favor of Ryan "ryann" Welsh. He recently joined Brazilian team Severe Female as a coach on January 1st, telling Dust2.us that while he will no longer be formally coaching the lineup, he plans on helping them during his free time while they search for a new coach. The final addition to the team, Swisher, has quickly found a new home after being released from the moribund Yeah lineup earlier today.

While this exact formation has never existed, all of the players have extensive history with one or more of their new teammates, with Jonji and ptr having the deepest roots from playing together for nearly a year together on the likes of Bad News Bears and Riot Squad.

While the team are currently known on ESEA as The Right Opportunity, Dust2.us knows the team are currently brainstorming a new team name.

ex-Chaos are:

  • Canada Jonathan "Jonji" Carey
  • United States Peter "ptr" Gurney
  • United States Michael "Swisher" Schmid
  • United States Gabe "Spongey" Greiner
  • United States Nick "alter" Jackson
  • United States Matthew "mCe" Elmore (Coach)

This new formation will be in action in ESEA Premier Season 36, which is set to formally begin tomorrow on January 18th.
