ESL move Challenger Jönköping and Atlanta Qualifier dates

ESL Challenger Atlanta will be one of the last events of 2023.

ESL have announced a number of changes to their tournament schedule for the fourth quarter of 2023. The most significant of those changes have seen the qualifier dates change for ESL Challenger Jönköping and ESL Challenger Atlanta, which are some of the last LAN events of the year North American teams can still qualify for.

ESL Challenger Jönköping, which is set to take place in one of the ancestral homes of Counter-Strike, is set to run from November 24th to November 26th. The event has one NA qualifier spot on offer alongside four general-purpose ESL World Ranking spots.

The new dates for the open and closed qualifier are now as follows:

  • Open Qualifier: 3rd-4th October (Starting at 18:00 EDT)

  • Closed Qualifier: 10th-11th October (Matches at 15:30 and 20:00 EDT)

As for ESL Challenger Atlanta, the event marks the return of Counter-Strike to the city for the first time since 2019. This event will run at DreamHack Atlanta from December 15th to the 17th. ESL Challenger Atlanta will feature one NA qualifier spot, one NA Local Hero invite slot, and three general-purpose ESL World Ranking spots.

The new dates for the open and closed qualifier are now as follows:

  • Open Qualifier: 13th-14th November (Starting at 18:00 EDT)

  • Closed Qualifier: 15th-16th November (Matches at 15:30 and 20:00 EDT)

In this announcement, ESL also announced changed broadcast days for ESL Challenger League, moving the days around the calendar rather than the traditional broadcast days of Tuesday and Wednesday. ESL claims these changes were made to avoid scheduling conflicts with other tournaments.
