Both teams faced each other in the same situation at Antwerp. Can Liquid come out on top again?

Liquid vs. Complexity, what to expect?

One NA team is going home today.

A very slow start from Liquid and a tough schedule for Complexity has the two North American squads facing off in the 1-2 bracket, where the winner needs to win one more BO3 to advance to Legends and the loser is going home.

Sorry nitr0, but you guys have been slow in Paris

It is a consensus in the community that Liquid are underperforming, with some saying that this may be the worst NA performance at the majors in regards to expectations/results. Liquid lost 16-12 against Apeks and 16-14 against forZe, in BO1 series, starting both maps down 7-1 and 7-3, isn't very good. The BO3 series against Fluxo was a bit of a scare, as the NA side lost the first map, and only barely managed to crawl away with the victory.

  • Forget everything that happened

  • YEKINDAR needs to step up early on

  • NAF needs to keep his form from yesterday

  • oSee has been consistent

Complexity's real shot

Complexity haven't been dealt easy games, even the opener against GamerLegion can be considered a tough match. Losing against G2 is very acceptable, even more so in the way the match went. The only worrying sign was yesterday's loss against paiN. Not to say they were obliged to win that match, but the team seemed out of it, very mistake-prone and not focused at all. Today, all stakes are on the table, win or go home.

  • Can they bounce back from yesterday's showing?

  • Can they handle the pressure?

  • FaNg, your time is now

  • floppy has been a bit sus, maybe he's the imposter?

Previous Matchups

Despite Complexity and Liquid being the two best North American rosters at the moment, they haven't been facing each other with much regularity. Funnily enough, there was a Complexity vs. Liquid on the 1-2 bracket during the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, where Liquid won 2-0 and then went on to qualify for the Legends stage. More recently, the teams played each other for BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2023, where Liquid also took a 2-0 win. In 11 maps played between the two, Complexity have only managed to win two.

Likely Vetoes

This can be a very good veto for Complexity if they are able to back it up. Liquid's Vertigo ban comes in handy for the younger squad and their own Mirage ban hinders Liquid, a lot. Because both teams usually first pick Overpass, Complexity can leave it for Liquid to pick it, and choose to pick Nuke, due to Liquid's loss yesterday and their (probable) desire to show a good Nuke. Inferno as the decider is just a part of the NA BO3 recipe.

Even if Liquid choose to go first on the veto, because they are the higher-seeded team, the maps played should be the same, as they are the best three maps for both teams, from the available ones.

  • Complexity ban Mirage - usual first ban

  • Liquid ban Vertigo - usual first ban

  • Complexity pick Nuke - revenge from yesterday and Liquid lost here with Fluxo

  • Liquid pick Overpass - usual pick

  • Inferno is the decider - both teams like it

Extras

Naturally, the odds are in favor of Liquid, but that doesn't mean it's a guaranteed win. The lowest odd for Liquid to win is 1.42, and the lowest odd for Complexity to win is 2.55.
