Perhaps CLG Red or one of North America's female teams will get to take on some of Europe's top teams in Rotterdam

DreamHack Showdown to offer spot at DH Open Rotterdam

One female team will have the chance to prove their mettle against a slew of male teams.

DreamHack have announced that the winner of the the all-female DreamHack Showdown will directly qualify to DreamHack Open Rotterdam, which is set to begin on October 18th.

The Valencia showdown is set to run next month from July 5th to July 7th, and currently features three North American teams in the form of Dignitas fe, CLG Red, and FOREVER 21. Besides the Rotterdam spot, the winner of the event will also take home the lion's share of a $100,000 prize purse.

DreamHack Open Rotterdam will be a rare opportunity to compete against Europe's top teams as the last LAN event which featured a European team and North American female teams was Clutch Con 2015 at the very beginning of 2015. That event featured a Markus "pronax" Wallsten-led Fnatic alongside female teams Karma and UBINITED — and the DNA of those two teams still lives on in modern day Dignitas fe and CLG Red.

Additionally, DreamHack have announced that the winner of the currently ongoing DreamHack Open Summer will earn a spot at DreamHack Masters Malmö, with the Swedish event organizer saying they are looking to "improve the continuity of [their] tournaments."

Note: An earlier version of this article mistakenly said the winner of DreamHack Open Rotterdam would earn a spot at DreamHack Masters Malmö.

Dust2 Birthday cake!
They have wanted to compete at the big leagues, this is their chance. Whoever wins, I hope they learn a lot from Rotterdam.
