GX complete reverse sweep against Ghost Academy; to Pro League relegation

A 16-14 win on Mirage would be as close to victory as Ghost Academy got tonight.

The critical match opened up on Mirage, GX's pick, and Ghost Academy immediately took away their home advantage by picking up the pistol on the back of a quadruple kill by Bryan "MAKKA" Drouillard. Ghost would add an additional round before being retorted by GX, thanks to a double entry from Shawn "witmer" Taylor. GX would be immediately reset, however, and would only win isolated rounds throughout the rest of the half, with it ending 12-3 in Ghost Academy's favor.

Things were looking bleak for GX, and got bleaker still as the Ghosts benefitted from yet another pistol 4K — this time from Jarod "Douglas" Onorato. GX were given a shot of life by Braxton "swag" Pierce, who brought down three with a CZ from underneath palace on an A take attempt by Ghost Academy.

Buoyed by this, GX stormed back into the game, taking eight rounds in a row and now allowing a single bomb plant from Ghost Academy. Ghost Academy would eventually get the bomb down and successfully defend it until detonation to reach match point. GX continued to battle and brought the map to the thirtieth and final round, but only to stumble at the finish line, as Ghost Academy were able to take it over the finish line, 16-14.

On to Train, the pick of Ghost Academy, three kills from swag helped GX ease the pain of losing the previous map. GX took the next two rounds as well, featuring an ace from Michael "dapr" Gulino, before Ghost Academy took their first. Ghost would muster a mini-streak of three rounds in a row, but otherwise this was GX's half. Ghost Academy would put a scare into GX on round 15 with a less than stellar buy, but swag was able to clutch out the round, and end the half with a 10-5 advantage for his team.

GX would take the second-half pistol as well, and had the match firmly in hand. They would run the score up to 14-5 before Ghost Academy would answer back with three of their own, a streak that was in turn stopped by an aggresive AWP clutch from dapr. Ghost Academy would muster another three round streak before GX closed out the map with a relatively safe 16-11, evening the series.

Cache was all GX, as they were only able to muster two rounds on the map, which they also lost last night to SoaR Gaming. swag put up a ridiculous 30-5 stat line for the map in a mere 17 rounds.

Ooh nice to see GX doing well with Witmer as of now, I'd like to see how they do against some higher up teams for their first season.
