Cloud9 headed for New York
ESL have announced that the current reigning Major champions, Cloud9, are the next invited team for ESL One New York 2018. This leaves three more invitational spots for the $250,000 event.
The American team have been struggling to perform since winning the Major championship, making widely publicized transfers in their attempt to rebuild. Their recent appearance at DreamHack Masters Marseille showed brief glimmers of hope, before a 2-0 loss to Gambit in the quarterfinals ended their run.
They're joining the already announced FaZe at the Barclays Arena in September 26th-30th. Whether or not they'll still be claiming the Major champions tag will be determined in the days before the event at the FACEIT London Major.
