GooseBreeder was a one-woman army across both maps in the series

Dignitas fe claim Intel Challenge Katowice title

The North Americans only dropped one map during the course of the tournament.

The grand final of the Intel Challenge Katowice 2018 was set to start, and in a shocking turn of events, there was no Julia "juliano" Kiran or Zainab "zAAZ" Turkie in sight, after RES had been upset by Dignitas fe yesterday. The unexpected scenario saw the North Americans facing off against recently formed European side Squared fe on Inferno, Train, and Cache.

While the ladies of Squared were technically on the server during their own pick of Inferno, they were not able to show much as a result of their efforts. Dignitas fe, led by Mounira "GooseBreeder" Dobie, ran a relentless offense that Squared were only able to stave off twice, leaving themselves in an undesirable 13-2 hole at the half.

From there, the result of the map was a foregone conclusion, especially with Dignitas claiming their CT-side pistol. The North Americans quickly won the two rounds needed to end the map 16-2, and head to their own pick of Train, with the prospect of ultimate victory tantalizingly close.

The Dignitas ladies continued their hot form on Train, accumulating eleven rounds on their Counter-Terrorist side before Squared were able to pick up one. This time around, it was newcomer Kiara "milk" Makua doing much of the heavy lifting for the North American side, and the half ultimately ended 12-3 in their favor.

Squared were able to prolong their tournament life a bit longer by picking up a nearly flawless Counter-Terrorist pistol. Undeterred, the North Americans and Amanda "rain" Smith were able to make the most of their pistols, once again seizing control of the map, and catapulting them to 15-4.

With Squared wielding primarily SMGs, the map, series, and event were Dignitas' for the taking, and they were not to be denied. A 16-4 victory on Train saw them holding their European opponents to six total rounds across the entire series.

Earlier in the day, RES and Christine "potter" Chi were able to sweep aside the Brazilians of Keyd Stars fe to claim a third place finish. The end result was undoubtedly not what the team had hoped for, as they had won the previous three iterations of the event.

The final standings of the Intel Challenge Katowice 2018 are as follows:

1. United States Dignitas fe - $25,000
2. Squared fe - $12,000
3. World RES - $8,000
4. Brazil Keyd Stars fe - $5,000
5-6. ARES fe
5-6. Singularity fe
7-8. United States CLG Red
7-8. GoHome

With one of the major events on the female calendar down, these teams will now look towards Copenhagen Games at the end of March. There, Dignitas will look to maintain their wrecking ball form from this event, while the ladies of CLG Red will look to find some.
