mousesports overcome SK, go 2-0

The European team secure a close win over three maps.

The first 1-0 bracket game saw SK take on mousesports, as the two sides look to take the advantageous spot to only require one more win to qualify. The teams faced off on Mirage, Cobblestone and Inferno.

Mirage began with mousesports taking the pistol round and two anti-ecos on their T-side, before following it up with the first buy round. With mousesports looking strong, a forcebuy built around Marcelo "coldzera" David's saved M4 saw the Brazilians get onto the board. From there SK secured the next four rounds to take the lead.

Although mousesports narrowly secured a round to even the game up, SK just about pulled ahead once again. With Robin "ropz" Kool onside, however, the Europeans once again evened the half up, this time to 7-7. But SK kept their narrow lead to the second half, taking the last round for 8-7.

The second half began with mousesports taking the pistol and two anti-ecos on their CT-side to once again take the lead. Epitacio "TACO" de Melo secured three kills in the buy round to claim it for SK, but the Europeans instantly answered back in their following force.

From there mousesports took themselves to 14 round, partially thanks to Martin "STYKO" Styk taking four kills with a Galil. SK did claim the next round, but once again mousesports answered back to get onto match point. SK went running for the overtime, however, as Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and co. went full "Hail Mary" to take the next four rounds to secure their own 14th round.

But the final round in regulation time was secured by Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný playing from the B-site, securing three kills by himself to take the final round by himself. This saw mousesports narrowly take the first map 16-14, their first map win against the Brazilians.

Cobblestone began with SK securing the pistol and anti-eco rounds on their CT-side, followed up with the first buy round and the following reset. mousesports secured the next round, but coldzera and TACO came out to halt mousesports from pushing on.

Yet the Europeans did in the following round. Securing two bomb plants in a row saw mousesports return and keep a foothold in the half, before starting to trade rounds with the Brazilians. With Fernando "fer" Alvarenga taking three kills SK secured the half advantage and took a ninth round, but oskar seucred three kills to limit the deficit to 9-6.

The second half began with mousesports taking the advantage on their CT-side, securing the pistol round and two anti-ecos, before following it up with the first buy round. With mousesports looking likely to push on for a further lead, SK come out with an eco round win, with fer taking three.

The two sides started trading rounds, before SK regained the lead and secured map point in swift fashion. The final round looked like it started well for mousesports, but FalleN and coldzera put a stop to any overtime attempts for a 16-11 win.

Inferno was the decider, and it was SK who started the map off strong by taking the pistol and first anti-eco, but met the sharp sword of mousesports' forcebuy as the Europeans went forward to take the lead, thanks to three kills from Miikka "suNny" Kemppi. oskar then secured an ace to keep their lead going after being placed in a 2vs5.

SK did claim a round after this, but were immediately knocked back down as suNny started to show a strong performance for his team. SK once again came back into it thanks to FalleN claiming four kills, followed up with the next before mousesports returned to take the next two rounds. A time-based slip up caused SK to claim the final round of the half, but it was the Europeans who were still 9-6 ahead.

SK opened up the second half on their T-side after an extremely close pistol round, followed up with two simple anti-ecos. mousesports came into the game on the fourth round, with a bunch of SMGs. ropz secured the next round for the European side as they moved forward with their lead.

From there mousesports kept on claiming rounds to reach the 14th round, just narrowly away from match point. Comfortably defending a site take, the European side claimed said match point with a ropz 3k. SK strongly secured the next round to prevent mousesports going six rounds unbeaten, but the European side secured the required round to win 16-10, and their first best-of-three victory over their opponents.
