Cloud9 ease past Heroic; to face Liquid in upper bracket semifinals
The newly crowned Major champions faced off against Heroic in the final match of day one at cs_summit 2. With Inferno, Mirage, and Train on the cards, the series was set to begin with Cloud9 on the CT side.
A fast mid push kicked off the map for Heroic, allowing them to secure their first round despite a heavy arch side stack from Cloud9. The lead wasn't held for long as aggressive peeks from the North Americans crushed the Danes economy immediately, resulting in Cloud9 taking the lead 3-1. Heroic fought back once they were back on rifles, but again Cloud9 halted their progress by resetting the Danish economy.
From here the North Americans had little difficulty in holding against Heroic. Jake "Stewie2k" Yip and Timothy "autimatic" Ta shut down repeated attempts at B site hits, and Cloud9 claimed eight rounds for themselves.
A third round was finally put on the board by Heroic as they adjusted to the way Stewie held B, but again a reset was dealt in the ensuing round. This time Heroic held strong and took B against a three man setup from Cloud9, but couldn't string wins together as Stewie and co. closed out the half with the final two rounds.
The Americans continued to crush the Danes in the second half with the second pistol round going their way, and the match was brought to a quick close as Stewie ended the first map 20-4.
Mirage began with Heroic once again winning the opening pistol. With Cloud9 getting the bomb plant, a save round should've allowed for Heroic to bolster their economy; however, a glock entry kill from Will "RUSH" Wierzba granted Cloud9 a second bomb plant. Heroic snagged the round by the skin of their teeth thanks to four kills on the retake from Jakob "JUGi" Hansen.
The first gun round saw uneven trading from Cloud9 as they tried to hit the B site, and a solid defense from Heroic granted them a third round. Despite having every advantage going for them, Heroic fell to pistols in the ensuing round to allow Cloud9 their first round. The North Americans got back into the swing of things as five additional rounds quickly went their way, but Heroic fought back towards the latter portion of the half to claim a 9-6 victory going into their T side.
Cloud9 returned to their dominant form as the second pistol round went their way. From here they had little issue halting Heroic's efforts, with the Danes only finding a single round by the hands of JuGi once again. Ten rounds were quickly racked up by the North Americans to take the series 2-0.

Cloud9 will face Liquid in the upper bracket semifinals tomorrow. SK are also set to face North, who have yet to be tested after cruising past Vega Squadron.
