EGLX 2018 link with Swarmio to host $10k LAN

Swarmio and EGLX team up to hold a 64 team online qualifier, 32 team LAN qualifier and LAN tournament with a $10,000 prize pool.

Prominent online tournament platform Swarmio launched a dedicated event page earlier this week to announce it's partnership with EGLX, the largest annual Canadian gaming convention. This coordinated effort will result in a 64 team online qualifier held by Swarmio, a 32 team LAN qualifier, and will culminate in an 8 team LAN finals.

The online qualifiers will begin February 3 and will run through March 3, with the four finalists earning spots in the LAN finals. Swarmio has split these online qualifiers into four separate groups in bo1 single elimination format and spots are on a first come first serve basis. Registration is already open and free of charge.

For those who don't qualify online or miss registration, you will have another chance in the 32 team BYOC LAN qualifier at EGLX on March 9th-10th. Like the online qualifier, the LAN variation will also be single elimination, but instead split into only two groups and bo3. The two finalists will move directly into the LAN finals, with the remaining two slots reserved for currently unnamed professional teams.

The EGLX LAN finals will begin on the evening of March 10th after completion of the BYOC qualifier in a round robin format, followed by a bo1 double elimination. On March 11th the event will conclude in a bo3 finals and a bo5 grand finals.

The prize breakdown will be as follows:

  1. $6,000
  2. $3,000
  3. $1,000

For a more detailed look at how each qualifier and the finals are layed out you can visit the event page. EGLX has also setup a page of their own detailing all tournament rules and schedules for their events, which you can find here.
