timbermen fell ImPerium to lock up final ESEA MDL Season 35 slot
timbermen have earned themselves the final promotional spot to ESEA MDL Season 35, defeating ImPerium in the lower bracket final of Relegation.
Things didn't look good from the start for ImPerium as timbermen came out swinging — with axes, presumably — on Overpass, absolutely demolishing the last-chance qualifier team with a 16-3 victory.
ImPerium were able to collect themselves and get back into the series on Mirage, with a six-round tear in the first half earning them a slim 8-7 halftime lead. The team were then able to double their round count following the side swap to close out the map. Wyatt "snav" Phillippi looked sharp and dropped a 30 bomb for timbermen, but the trio of Reece "Wilky" Wilkerson, Ian "heretic" Carfora, and Grant "Burt^" Burt all pitched in at least 20 frags to take things to Train for the decider.
There, ImPerium appeared to be on track to coast into MDL after they jumped out to an 11-4 lead at the half. However, they were then faced with the prospect of Train's T-side, where they had an abyssmal showing against Thunder Logic in the lower bracket semifinal. Those same problems persisted against timbermen as Derek "dare" Brown and company took full advantage, with ImPerium winning just two rounds while timbermen ran away with the map and the series. dare and snav had 27 and 26 kills, respectively, to book timbermen's spot in ESEA MDL Season 35.
