cynic's second stint on Nouns is set to come to an end

Report: Nouns set to replace two in major shakeup

Nouns will look to upgrade in response to the team falling behind domestic competition.

According to multiple sources with knowledge of the transfer, Dust2.us understands that Nouns are set to overhaul their roster heading into 2024. These changes will see Nouns replace Brendan "Bwills" Williams and David "cynic" Polster with Evil Geniuses duo Paytyn "junior" Johnson and Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott. This decision will see Nouns part ways with Bwills after more than a year on the roster and remove cynic for the second time, with the latter player only returning to the roster in August while handing off IGL duties to Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly.

The changes to Nouns' roster comes as the squad like to reinvigorate their roster ahead of the closed qualifier for the PGL Major Copenhagen Americas RMR. It can be seen as a response to Nouns failing to find their footing internationally while also falling behind their domestic contemporaries. On the home front, Nouns have found M80 to be a tough opponent to crack, currently sitting at a 0-2 record against the team. Additionally, losses to BOSS and Party Astronauts in ESL Challenger League Season 46 playoffs have likely shown Nouns they need more firepower if they want to qualify to their first Major next year.

For any team in NA looking to boost their firepower, acquiring junior and Jeorge from the moribund EG roster is an excellent solution. The duo represent the most experienced AWPer in free agency and a highly touted rifler, respectively. Additionally, both players have previously worked with nosraC, easing any transition to a degree.

Speaking of the RMR, junior and Jeorge's move to Nouns will definitively break up the EG core. Although they received the invite with Jerric "wiz" Jiang in place of Jadan "HexT" Postma, the loss of this duo alongside Timothy "autimatic" Ta will cause the team to only have two players in theory tied to a future ex-EG roster. As such, this will likely result in Wildcard being called up to replace them as the next highest-ranked team on Valve's ranking.

Nouns are set to consist of:

  • United States Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly

  • United States Christopher "cJ" Jones

  • Mexico Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado

  • United States Paytyn "junior" Johnson

  • United States Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott

  • Canada Kory "SEMPHIS" Friesen (Coach)
