INTZ and Imperial qualify for IEM Katowice Americas Minor

As expected, Brazilian teams still rule the roost in South America.

After two days of play, INTZ and ? have come through the Americas Minor South America Closed Qualifier for IEM Katowice 2019.

The first match of the day saw INTZ and Imperial facing off in the upper bracket final, to determine who would have a short day today and advance directly to the Americas Minor. Inferno was a playground for INTZ and Alexandre "xand" Zizi, as they steamrolled over Imperial 16-1. Dust2 was a closer affair, but Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe and João "horvy" Horvath led the Pro League side to a comfortable 16-11 victory, and an Americas Minor berth.

Next up saw the Argentinian delegation from Isurus taking on Wild in the lower bracket, with both teams coming off wins. Two close 16-13 maps would see Isurus seen off, with former Immortals member Lucas "destiny" Bullo spearheading for Wild.

This setup a showdown between Imperial and Wild for the second spot at the Americas Minor. Wild came out swinging on the Terrorist-side of Dust 2, leading at the half 9-6. Imperial were not to be deterred, however, displaying a strong offense of their own, and taking the map to overtime, which they closed out 19-16.

Inferno was almost as tight as the first map, with Imperial holding a slim 8-7 lead at the half, and then duplicating that score on their Counter-Terrorist side to take the map and series.

The Americas Minor for IEM Katowice 2019 will take place from January 22nd to January 26th. Prior to that, six further teams for the event will be determined from the North America Closed Qualifier, featuring the likes of NRG, Ghost, Rogue, eUnited, and Swole Patrol. That event will run from December 12th to December 14th.
