Lots of reasons for fist bumps in the NRG camp

NRG continue the climb at cs_summit 3; Ghost and compLexity fall to OpTic

Will daps and co. be able to defend North America's title?

Day three has concluded at cs_summit 3, and unfortunately two of three North American teams have been sent packing by the Danes of OpTic.

The day began with OpTic taking on Ghost, starting off on Nuke, which the North American side has shown some flair for. Things started well for Josh "steel" Nissan and his squad, as they took the opening pistol, but OpTic's offense was clicking, and the Danes finished the half with a narrow 8-7 lead.

At the switch, OpTic extended their lead to 14-8 before Ghost were able to make a valiant effort to even the game up at 15-15, sending the map to overtime. Unfortunately, they had given Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer enough time to analyze them, and Ghost were swept aside in four clean rounds.

Train was a more one-sided affair, as after a relatively close opening half, OpTic powered through the Ghost defense to take the map and series. Despite the loss and elimination, Matthew "Wardell" Bowman continued to shine with the AWP for the  Ghost side.

The next match of the day saw the Danish/Swedish side of Heroic taking on compLexity, and it was the Bradley "ANDROID" Fodor show for the North American team, as he top-fragged for his team in two of three maps played. Starting off on Inferno, compLexity held a narrow 8-7 lead at the half, and were just barely able to bring the map across the line with a 16-13 scoreline.

Nuke, on the otherhand, appeared to be Heroic's from the start, as the Europeans leapt out to a 5-0 lead before compLexity could answer back with a successful defense. An 11-4 score for Heroic on their Terrorist side seemed to spell certain doom for compLexity, but they hung tough and brought the score to 13-11 before falling at the final hurdle.

Mirage was nearly a mirror of the previous lead, with compLexity grabbing an early and authoritative 7-1 lead on the T-side. Though Heroic clawed back into the half, they were unable to fully chip away at the scoreline, ultimately falling to the North American side 2-1.

Perhaps the most anticipated match-up of the day was between NRG and BIG in the Upper Bracket Final. Despite this and the series going the full three maps, one could hardly say that it delivered, as each was a landslide victory for the team on top.

Of the three maps, Overpass was the most closely contested, with the NRG trailing 7-8 at the half. Switching to the Terrorist side, it was predictably Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz powering his side to victory, only allowing NRG a single round on the defense.

Ultimately, however, NRG emerged victorious, with two blowout victories to their name to top BIG's one. Throughout the series, it was Jacob "FugLy" Medina putting up big numbers for the NRG side.

The final series of the day would see OpTic and compLexity battling to stay alive in the Lower Bracket Final. Inferno would be host to a double overtime epic, with René "cajunb" Borg and Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz going toe-to-toe in the fragging department, bagging 33 each. Despite the impressive displays from stanislaw and Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan, OpTic were able to take the map.

compLexity seemed poised to take the series to a third map on Nuke, leading 9-6 at the half. Unfortunately, the Danes defense was even more impressive, only allowing the North Americans two additional rounds in the second half, and winning the map 16-11.

Come the Grand Final, NRG will look to defend The Summit title for North America, as the previous events were won by SK and Liquid.

Dust2 Birthday cake!
Wardell was shining, but it wasn’t enough.
Hope Ghost improves even more!
