Seven MDL teams and APE GANG still alive in second IEM Katowice qualifier
The first day of the second qualifier for IEM Katowice 2019 has concluded, and while the latter stage of the bracket has been business as usual, upsets roiled the third round of play.
First, French Canadians Grizzlys were taken out by fellow Advanced squad FakeOut Nation. Next, MDL side ex-Velocity were defeated by APE Gang, who would go on to defeat Blight as well. Finally, the Colombians of VAULT were taken down by a Spenser "shrek" Adams-less Atlas.
In the fourth round of play, and the final for the night, things began to stabilize, and the favorites, all of whom being MDL teams, reigned supreme — with the exception of the aforementioned APE GANG victory over Yan "PRDTR" Davtian and his beleaguered Blight squad.
Though they did eventually notch the win, Josh "JoshRT" Lee's new-look Infamous side were given a run for their money by blitz, featuring ex-Vision man Gage "Spongey" Greiner. The last match of the night to finish saw ETHEREAL take down Atlas, with former Splyce member Arya "arya" Hekmat standing-in for the MDL team.

Play will continue tomorrow, where two of the remaining eight teams will go on to join Singularity and FURIA, along with eight invited sides, in the Closed Qualifier for the IEM Katowice Americas Minor.
