daps will be in front of a different desk than his teammates at home

daps to not play in EPICENTER Closed Qualifier

The Canadian in-game-leader will be unable to lead his team to Russia.

Damian "daps" Steele has announced over Twitter that he will not be playing in the EPICENTER Closed Qualifier. The Canadian's absence is due to him choosing to join the on-air talent for the upcoming FACEIT Major in London.

When NRG were unable to qualify for the FACEIT Major after being knocked out by eUnited, the experienced in-game-leader was handed an invitation from FACEIT to join the analyst desk at the event, which he accepted.

Due to the Major's New Challengers Stage overlapping with the qualifier for the Russian event, which daps claimed they had only recently gotten details about, he had to forgo playing in the qualifier.

Hobbled without an in-game-leader, it is currently unknown who the rest of NRG will choose to briefly don the jersey for them.

For now, NRG's roster for the EPICENTER Closed Qualifier is:

  • United States Jacob "FugLy" Medina
  • United States Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte
  •  Cvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov
  • United States Ethan "nahtE" Arnold
  • World TBA
  • United States Chet "ImAPet" Singh (Coach)

NRG most recently competed at DreamHack Masters Stockholm, where they were knocked out in the group stage 0-2 by NiP and Natus Vincere. The American team are set to appear at ESL One New York later this month, as well as StarSeries i-League Season 6 next month.
