Java Gaming Cafe to host $6,000 collegiate tournament

The Dallas-based gaming cafe will be hosting a collegiate CS:GO event.

With the school year set to resume this coming month, the Java Gaming Cafe in Dallas is set to host a collegiate CS:GO tournament this coming September. The non-BYOC event will boast a $6,000 prize pool, as well as hardware prizes for the first place team.

The event is currently projected to have at least 16 teams, however roughly 12 teams are confirmed according to one of the organizers. The event's format is set to feature 4 groups, with a round-robin in each group, in the group stage, with "best-of-three elimination in playoffs."

The prize pool breakdown is as follows:

  • 1st: $3,000 + gear
  • 2nd: $1,500
  • 3rd: $750
  • 4th: $750

Signups are currently open until September 1st, with a $100 fee for each player on a team, excluding coaches. Teams that sign up are required to have at least 3 players that are currently attending the same college, with a maximum of other 2 players from a neighboring college.
