CS2 11/2 Update: Community Maps and More!

Valve's work on CS2 has continued after a brief lull in updates.

Valve have pushed the latest update to Counter-Strike 2, seeing the standout new feature being the return of community maps, which have been absent in the full release of CS2 up until this point. With community maps being one of the backbones of the game for multiple reason, their return is a welcome addition. Of course, there's more than that, so here's a breakdown of the more noteworthy changes to the game.

Workshop

  • Enabled uploading CS2 maps to the workshop

  • Community Servers can host workshop maps

Gameplay

  • Fixed a case where weapons would fire faster than intended

  • Fixed a case where clients would show multiple gunshots for one actual shot

  • Knife attacks no longer predict damage effects or sounds on the client

  • Knife attack immediately after switching to a knife will always deal full damage amount

Maps

  • Inferno: Removed birds that got mistaken for grenades (Please remove the leaves in Overpass too)

Servers

  • Game servers will now print global chat messages when players acknowledge newly acquired items while connected to the game server.

Misc

  • Improved performance of player animations on client and server

  • Smoke grenade canister changed to chrome material

  • Adjusted microphone voice threshold value

While the game is still a ways away from being as polished as CS:GO, its great to see Valve continue to respond to community feedback. The complete patch notes can be read here.
