GamerLegion upset Heroic to make Grand Final

The underdog team continue their impressive BLAST Paris run.

Heroic came into the playoffs in Paris as one of the best teams in the world. So they were always going to be favorites in the match against GamerLegion, who had been on the brink of going home in the Challengers Stage. In a close three mapper it would be the underdogs who would come out on top. With this result, GamerLegion will be facing the winner of Apeks and Vitality in the BLAST Paris Major Final.

Map one would be Ancient and GamerLegion came out swinging on their T side despite losing the pistol round. With Swede Isak "isak" Fahlen propelling the team to a 10-5 lead at halftime. After the side switch though Heroic woke up, with Martin "stavn" Lund leading the comeback which included an impressive 1v3 from the young Dane in the 18th round. Heroic closed out the match winning eleven rounds on their T side with the final score being 16-13.

Moving onto the second map, Inferno, Heroic continued to dominate with their attack as they took a 5-1 lead on their map pick. GamerLegion managed to sort out their defense though as they tied up the game 5-5 after some good aggression from Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek. The stout defense held firm as GamerLegion came back to take a 9-6 lead going into the second half. GamerLegion continued their winning ways bringing them onto the brink of forcing a deciding map in the series. Consecutive hits on the A bombsite failed as stavn and Casper "cadiaN" Møller stood firm, but isak would convert a 1v2 to take home the second map.

Mirage started how Inferno ended with GamerLegion getting the better of Heroic's defense. The underdog side got off to a strong start leading 6-2 despite losing the pistol. Mihai "iM" Ivan continued his ridiculous Major form posting a 1.23 rating coming into the final map and being the driving force for the team in the opening stages of Mirage. The team would go from strength to strength as they took the first half 10-5 moving onto the traditionally easier CT side.

With the pistol round win and the second round conversion, GamerLegion put themselves four rounds away from making the Final. GamerLegion dominated the Danish side as they closed out the upset win 16-6.
