Gamers8 2023 NA Open Qualifier semifinals happening today

The open qualifier for the $1,000,000 competition started yesterday and had 41 teams sign up for a shot at going to Saudi Arabia.

There were a lot of known names in the team pool, such as paiN, MIBR, Limitless, Wildcard, ATK, Party Astronauts, Nouns, Evil Geniuses, and many more.

Due to the odd number of teams signed up, the first round of play saw a lot of the favorites advancing without playing. The big matches came in the Round of 16, with Nouns facing WITHOUTWARNING, and Limitless facing Wildcard. Naturally, the quarterfinals bracket was full of ECL teams, paiN vs. Wildcard, Party Astronauts vs. ATK, Nouns vs. EG, and MIBR vs. timbermen.

Out of all four BO1s, only ATK and Party Astronauts played a competitive map, with the other three matches being very one-sided. ATK managed to come back from a 13-6 deficit and force overtime, where they finished their job with a 19-15 win.

paiN obliterated Wildcard 16-6, showing that they really are on another level, MIBR won 16-5 against timbermen, also drawing a clear line between the quality of the teams, and Nouns beat EG's main squad 16-8.

Today at 06:00PM, paiN will face ATK, and MIBR will face Nouns, both games being BO1s. The winners of the series will then meet in the grand final for a spot in Gamers8, with this series being a BO3.
