HEN1 is happiest after winning

Malta Is BRazil

The first Americas organization to get a win at ESL Pro League 17 does so in a convincing fashion.

MIBR were reeling from a tough loss yesterday against fnatic who took them down 2-0, sending the Brazilians to the first lower-bracket match against the Mongolians from IHC. To the credit of IHC, they are coming off red-hot at IEM Katowice where they proved to be a truly surprising team by knocking out FURIA and Cloud9.

The match would start off on IHC's pick of Anubis, to which MIBR found themselves successful on their CT-side pistol. However, IHC would come roaring back by claiming the second-round and pulling away to a 4-2 lead. This lead was quickly quashed as MIBR would regain control of the half, just lose it all in the last few rounds to let IHC lead 8-7.

With MIBR switching sides into the second, it became clear that this game was going the way of Brazil, no matter how you sliced it. They would win the first seven rounds of the second half, making it 14-8. While they would give up a few rounds after, they would inevitable close out IHC's map pick 16-12.

Advantage to the Brazilians as they headed to their own pick of Anubis, a comfort pick for the squad as they have performed exceptionally well on it domestically against the likes of Complexity and were hoping that would translate to their international gameplay. Against IHC their first half CT-side was consistently back and forth, but the Mongolians would take the first half 9-6.

As Anubis is so consistently T-sided, there was a glimmer of hope for the Brazilians, but it didn't start off right as they lost the opening pistol. For some that would shake the confidence, but for MIBR, it did not. They responded by claiming the next five rounds in a row en route to a 16-14 map victory and 2-0 series win.

MIBR are now headed to the next round where they will play the loser of Cloud9 v. G2 while IHC will be facing off against Evil Geniuses on Saturday at 06:30AM.
