reck's stellar first map wasn't enough to bring a victory

M80 eliminated in do-or-die Katowice match

A brutal ending for the North American squad.

It was not the way that M80 would have liked to end their IEM Katowice campaign as they lose to Rebels 0-2 in the final game of the IEM Katowice 2024 Play-in. It was always an uphill battle for the team who were forced into a tough position when IGL Marcus "maNkz" Kjeldsen stepped down to focus on his mental health, forcing Rory "dephh" Jackson to fill in for the squad.

The team almost had a comeback against GamerLegion in their initial matchup, but fell late on. Then, against Rooster the team looked like they were finding their groove and could mount a serious challenge for the IEM Katowice 2024 group stage. However, it was not meant to be as the Polish squad cut them down in a 2-0 win.

Nuke started out as a tough CT-sided map for M80, which was surprising given their stellar performance against GamerLegion. Rebels would continue to force through their set-ups and not allow M80 to get settled at any point. Ethan "reck" Serrano would have a phenomonimal individual performance, but it would not be enough as Rebels won the first half 7-5 and then closed out the map 13-9.

On Vertigo, M80 were hoping to continue their win streak but it was just not meant to be. Rebels showed themselves to be even more dominant on their CT-side of the map and held the Americans to just four rounds in the first half. The second half went from bad to worse as M80 could only muster three rounds in their map defeat and exited the event.

Unfortunate timing for mankz, but mental health is really important

Honestly mankz missing wasn't really the issue they just lost critical rounds in advantageous situations and swisher in particular didn't look comfortable
