NRG triumph over compLexity in overtime
The second match of Group A kicked off with NRG taking on compLexity on Mirage for a place in the winners match, and a chance to take on Liquid.
A flawless CT pistol round from compLexity allowed them to concede little other than a bomb plant, with five kills giving them a chance to garner a quick lead. NRG's third round buy put pressure on the CTs, but a one-on-two clutch by Peter "ptr" Gurney allowed compLexity to pick up their first gun round as well.
NRG's next gun round is where Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte began his spree, grabbing three kills for himself to secure an initial round for his team. Another three kills promptly followed, throwing the CT economy into turmoil and allowing NRG to quickly garner nine rounds, with compLexity only able to answer back with two of their own to end the half 9-6 in favour of NRG.
A four-kill round from Bradley "ANDROID-X23" Fodor secured the second pistol round for compLexity, leading to a tie game as the squad took the following two rounds as well. The rest of the half remained extremely close as NRG and compLexity traded rounds in batches of three, before coL managed to grab a precarious match-point. From there NRG were not to be shut down as they brought it back to cause overtime.
Here we saw NRG begin to stabilize, as they picked up two more CT rounds before managing to close out the match on their T side, thanks to a four-kill final round from Allan "AnJ" Jensen to conclude the match.
