Team One subjected to racist taunting in ECS Closed Qualifier
Yesterday in the ECS Season 5 Closed Qualifier match between American mix team and the Brazilians of Team One, some of the American players were on less than their best behavior.
While some of the actions of Dylan "Hiki" O'Kane and Andy "devastation" Parr were bad manners and rude, at one point the h00liGaNz player imitated a monkey. The player did not respond to a request for comment by Dust2.us.*
After the match concluded in a 2-1 victory for the Brazilians, despite a stellar performance from Ryan "Snakes" Amann, Team One owner Alexandre "kakavel" Peres took to Twitter to apologize for his own player's responding to the taunting:
Anthony "Nervous" Boring, who played with the team in the open qualifier, but was replaced by Adam "juice" Sar yesterday due to being at LAN, shared that he had received some love from upset Brazilian fans:
It will no doubt help the players of One to brush off the slights with the knowledge they were able to defeat their adversaries and advance to the ECS Season 5 Challengers Cup, which will take place in early March. Later that month, the team will head to China for the WESG World Finals.
In less good news, the team have been marked dead in ESEA, apparently due to not respecting the roster restrictions imposed upon them because of taking over the roster spot formerly held by their countrymen Gorilla Core.
As of now, none of the 2K players who participated in the match have acknowledged the drama publically, and FACEIT/ECS have also not commented. devastation and h00liGaNz will continue their ESEA MDL campaign this week with two matches against RONIN and No Tenemos Nada.
