A solid performance from mixwell and autimatic saw Cloud9 through to the grand finals

Cloud9 reverse-sweep FURIA to advance to ECS Season 8 Week 3 grand finals

A blowout streak of 13 rounds on map three saw Cloud9 coast through the end of their matchup.

Cloud9 have secured a spot in the week three grand finals of ECS Season 8 following a 2-1 victory over FURIA, leaving them just one best-of-three win away from qualifying for the LAN finals in Arlington, Texas.

The two teams began their clash on Mirage, with Cloud9's 2-0 lead quickly dwindling as FURIA ran back a six-round streak of their own. Damian "daps" Steele and company were able to battle back towards the end of the half to narrowly edge out an 8-7 lead, further extending the gap to 11-7 with another pistol round victory. FURIA were swift to reply however, completely locking Cloud9 out for the majority of the remaining rounds to clinch a 16-12 victory.

A quad kill from Timonthy "autimatic" Ta put Cloud9 back in control as Train got underway, with FURIA only managing to post five rounds on the offense by halftime. The Brazilians were able to double their score as a pistol round victory gave them the momentum to tie up the match, but Cloud9 made up for their lackluster T-side on Mirage as they only conceded one final round on the road to a 16-11 finish.

Another pistol round win for Cloud9 had the team looking to take an early lead, but a force-buy from FURIA had the Brazilians swiftly respond to take seven of the ensuing eight rounds in reply. Again, a resurgence towards the latter portion of the half allowed Cloud9 to put themselves within one round of FURIA as the two teams swapped sides. Now on the offense, Cloud9 took firm control of the proceedings as they completely dismantled FURIA's defensive setups, sweeping the remaining rounds to claim a 16-8 victory.
