Hiko is set to return to play for the first time since Rogue's exit from CS:GO
Spencer "Hiko" Martin has announced on Twitter that he will be standing in with South African team ATK during their Minor Closed Qualifier run.
I'll be standing in for @AtkArena this week in the NA Minor Qualifier - wish us luck :)— Hiko (@Hiko) June 9, 2019
ATK have been without a fifth since June 2nd when Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek was signed by Envy as a replacement for Josh "jdm64" Marzano. In the days leading up to his signing and following Sonic's departure from the team, ATK have been using Tyson "TenZ" Ngo as a stand-in. However, TenZ is currently tied to Lazarus for the duration of the Major circuit as he and Pujan "FNS" Mehta have been playing for the team in place of Michael "dapr" Gulino and Braxton "swag" Pierce.
As for Hiko, he has been out of action since May 10th when he entered free agency following the dissolution of Rogue's CS:GO team. The veteran player is no stranger to the Major cycle having placed top eight at five majors over the course of his long career with compLexity, Cloud9, and Liquid.
ATK's roster for the Closed Qualifier is now:
- Johnny "JT" Theodosiou
- Rhys "Fadey" Armstrong
- Dominic "Domsterr" Sampaio
- Robby "blackpoisoN" Da Loca
- Spencer "Hiko" Martin (Stand-in)
- Tiaan "T.c" Coertzen (Coach)
The Closed Qualifier is set to begin on June 12th and will determine which six teams will travel will join Sharks and INTZ in Berlin for the Minor.
