One Brazilian team down, one to go

Liquid turn the lights off on Luminosity's hopes in ECS Season 7 Week 4

A 2-1 victory sees Liquid move on to face a second Brazilian team in this week's grand finals.

Liquid have defeated Luminosity in the second semifinal matchup of ECS Season 7 Week 4, granting themselves a spot in the grand finals against MIBR.

The series began on Luminosity's pick of Inferno, with the Brazilians initially managing to contest Liquid for the lead with a 5-3 scoreline. Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken were unwilling to remain on the back foot for long however, and helped to grant Liquid five of the ensuing seven rounds to narrowly pull ahead 8-7 at the half. Once on the T-side, Liquid took firm control of the proceedings, winning six straight rounds before closing out the map in quick fashion for a 16-9 victory.

Liquid's surprise pick of Vertigo saw the team get off to a hot start, cruising through Luminosity's defensive setups round after round to take a 9-1 lead. Luminosity barely kept themselves in contention with three rounds towards the end of the half, with Liquid boasting 11 rounds to their name. Once Luminosity had a turn on the offensive, control of the map quickly changed hands, with the Brazilian team crushing Liquid with a 12-2 half of their own to win the map 16-13.

Liquid returned to their winning ways as the deciding map of Overpass got underway, taking seven uncontested rounds to start off the map. Luminosity finally won four of their own in reply, but Liquid secured an additional trio of rounds towards the end of the half for a 10-5 lead as they swapped over to their T-side.

Five rounds off the back of the second half pistol allowed for Luminosity to immediately tie up the match, but Liquid remained resilient as a trio of their own saw them once again pull ahead. Luminosity attempted to fight back as another round went their way, but Liquid were unrelenting as they gave up just one final round on the road to a 16-12 finish.
