ESEA has announced that it will be discontinuing its invitation program that allowed teams to be directly promoted to Main or Advanced by ESEA based on their previous results.
This system notably saw success with Bravado, who were invited to Main. Bravado then won their first season of Main and then won MDL in the consecutive season. The system was also used by oNe, who placed first in the regular season and are currently in the Advanced playoffs.
In its place, ESEA has announced it will be hosting one-day events which will instead be used to qualify for spots in higher divisions, with the cups being announced weeks in advance.
Due to the cups being tied to seasons, ESEA has stated that teams will have to use 3 of the 5 players they use in their qualifying match, in 3 of the first 4 matches of the following season.
ESEA have yet to announce further details, however it is expected the organizer will announce a qualification cup for Season 29 sooner rather than later.
