ShahZaM and co. will play in the Major Closed Qualifier the day before New York's Closed Qualifier

compLexity and Swole Patrol advance to ESL One New York Closed Qualifier

Victories in the semifinals of the open qualifier have determined the final two teams participating in the upcoming closed qualifier.

Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's compLexity and Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir's Swole Patrol have emerged victorious from the ESL One New York Open Qualifier, completing the team list for the upcoming closed qualifier that will advance one team to the Barclay's Arena in Brooklyn.

Both series saw the victors put up impressive first halves on their maps, leading to quick series wins for both sides. Swole Patrol took on Bravado early in the day on Inferno and Overpass, while compLexity faced Freedom 35 on Inferno and Mirage shortly after.

Swole Patrol left Bravado few openings on their map pick of Inferno, putting up an impressive 11 rounds on their CT side to lock Bravado out of bombsites. The South African side tried keeping themselves competitive by taking the pistol round and ensuing anti-ecos, but they were unable to hold up with the lead Swole Patrol had mustered and the American side closed out the first map 16-10.

The second map proved to be an even easier affair for Swole Patrol as a 10-5 first half gave way to a 6-1 second half, granting Bravado no chance to redeem themselves and ensuring Swole Patrol's spot in the Closed Qualifier.

compLexity's route saw stanislaw and co. tear through Freedom 35 in the semifinals, demolishing the MDL team in the first half of both maps. Inferno saw compLexity take their time closing out the map after putting up a 13-2 first half, allowing Freedom 35 up to 10 rounds before putting an end to the first map.

Mirage was both a far more dominant and a far quicker undertaking for compLexity as their CT side defense left absolutely no opening for Freedom 35, granting the EPL team a 14-1 first half. A quick pistol win ensured the victory in the end, making compLexity the second team to emerge unscathed from the open qualifier.
