Bald EliAGLE back on LAN

EliGE: "I look at people's predictions, I feel like they are just ChatGPT'ing"

Complexity looked solid against paiN.

There's finally a North American team playing at the PGL Copenhagen Major. Complexity was the only one to qualify and earned a bye straight to the Elimination Stage. It's a comfortable and new position for the Complexity organization who have not advanced this far in a Major since the FACEIT London 2018 Major. Now, the team is in the position to do even more thanks to a strong win over paiN. The squad's most veteran player, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, ended close to the top of the scoreboard alongside three teammates, all with 19, 18, or 17 frags each.

EliGE spoke with Dust2.us' Ryan Friend about this being the rifler's first Major with Complexity, what he is doing to help the younger players, how well Complexity has prepared for it, and more.

Please note that the full interview can be found below on YouTube, while the transcript has some key snippets from their conversation.

It's a new Major, new team. Is it a weird feeling to be in this position?

Not really. I have been here for a while now, and I'm comfortable with the guys. We have managed our expectations, we know what we have to do, and we are just here to play.

You are a veteran of the game and coming into this leadership role within a Complexity filled with young guys who have been together for so long. How are you trying to help them now in the Major? They have been in a major a couple of times, but you have the experience of going further and further.

I'd say the main thing I'm always hitting home about is just we don't need to do anything that we haven't done before, where we don't need to do anything heroic, just anything that we have done in practice, that's what we are here to do. We don't have to do anything crazy. Of course, there is going to be little strats or plays that are going to be popping up, and we are going to do some things that are outside our comfort but, in general, we should be very comfortable with everything, as long as our practice and everything has prepared us for this moment, which it has. I think we had a really good boot camp. We learned a lot during it, in terms of what we need to be focusing on from the macro and micro levels on certain spots of the maps, and I think we have a good map pool as well. We shouldn't be uncomfortable in any of these games; we just have to do what we have been practicing for, and we should go far.

We have seen a lot of upsets in the opening stage. Do you believe there's probably going to be some more bracket upsets going on? Do you think you could be one of those teams?

I knew that there were going to be upsets. I feel like every time I look at people's predictions I feel like they are just ChatGPT'ing and just want the best team to win, and that's usually not how it goes. I feel like you always have to consider people's forms and maps, there are just so many variables. As you can see, anything can happen, we are at the hardest tournament of the year where everyone is feeling the pressure, and any of the teams that feel that extra pressure, start crumbling, the teams that are fired up and ready to go, especially the ones from last stage, they can take advantage of that.
