Former Evil Geniuses Gold player retires from Counter-Strike

lovergirl was previously known as garden.

Anna "lovergirl" Gutierrez has announced on X that they are retiring from competitive Counter-Strike and esports as a whole, claiming to have lost their passion for the game after not playing it for months.

lovergirl rose to prominance for being part of Evil Geniuses' first-ever ESL Impact roster, alongside Jessica "jesscas" Ngo, Kiara "m1lky" Makua, Kiki "PiggyKiki" Long, and Lucy "empathy" Verkaik.

Prior to joining Evil Geniuses, lovergirl played for the Please Send Help squad that qualified for the ESL Impact Season 1 LAN Finals in Dallas, in 2022. There, the team managed to win a series against ATK fe, and only lost to FURIA fe, who would be a finalist in the event, ultimately losing to Nigma Galaxy. The 26-year-old returned to the stage during Season 2, with EG Gold.

Due to a string of bad results throughout the ESL Impact Katowice 2023 North American qualifiers and during the third season of ESL Impact NA, lovergirl was cut from the team, just like jesscas and Louis "onter" Contreras. During their last stint, lovergirl averaged a 1.09 rating.

Since then, lovergirl has been away from the scene and from the game which led to them now officially retiring after almost one year since their last HLTV-recorded match was played.
