Liquid eliminated early in Riyadh

The trip to Saudi Arabia is over before you know it.

Riyadh's Gamers8 tournament is already incredibly grueling, with the do-or-die single elimination bracket format pitting Liquid against the red-hot ENCE. With Liquid continuing to mesh and finding their footing, they have to go up against the IEM Dallas winners and IEM Cologne runners-up. It was a tough match to begin, but an even tougher one for Liquid as they would see their journey to the Middle East end faster than hoped.

The match began on Liquid's pick of Vertigo, to which they started slow after losing the opening pistol, but picked up speed as they closed out the first half 8-7. The second half got trickier for the Dutch-American organization as they fell behind 13-9 while on their second half T-side.

However, Liquid were first to 15 as they provided a stalwart defense against ENCE. However that defense came crumbling down as they would not only allow ENCE to tie it up in regulation, but allow them to steal their map pick in Overtime to go down 19-17.

An Anubis second map was just as disastrous as expected, as Liquid's unfamiliarity with the map was exposed by ENCE in the first half. A masterclass in domination, ENCE would run all over Liquid's CT side as they secured a 12-3 first half. Liquid were unable to muster their own substantial attack and would fall 16-5 to end their run in Saudi Arabia.
