FalleN reportedly agrees to join FURIA; buyout stalls negotiations
According to a report by Roque Marques of Dust2 Brasil, it is understood that Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo has reached an agreement in principal to join FURIA following the player break. However, the move to Brazil's number one team has reportedly hit a major snag as negotiations have stalled with Imperial over FalleN's buyout, which has allegedly been unilaterally raised by Imperial.
Should the negotiations be resolved in FURIA's favor, FalleN would be replacing Rafael "saffee" Costa in the starting lineup.
FalleN's decision to sign with FURIA comes at the expense of the 32-year-old IGL and AWPer's "Last Dance" on Imperial, with FalleN now opting to take one last crack at being a top player after Imperial failed to reach such lofty heights. In Imperial, which originally consisted of the previous Major-winning Luminosity/SK core, the team failed to collect any trophies or crack the top ten on HLTV's world rankings. As such, the squad has slowly but surely churned through their legacy players, leaving FalleN as the last connection to the brand's rhetorical position in the Brazilian scene.
FalleN's importance to Imperial's brand along with a lofty salary by tier one standards has come with a hefty buyout, something FURIA is reportedly uncomfortable fulfilling, especially after it was reportedly raised. As such, the two sides are locked in pitched negotiations over FalleN's desire to exit the organization.
Importantly, FURIA need to keep budget in mind for another replacement as FURIA has reportedly informed André "drop" Abreu he will also be out of the squad. It is unknown who would be replacing him, but with the Brazilian scene being known for high buyouts, FURIA will need to play smart with their war chest.
Should FURIA and Imperial agree a buyout, FURIA is expected to be:
-
Andrei "arT" Piovezan
-
Yuri "yuurih" Santos
-
Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato
-
Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo
-
Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira (Coach)
