Complexity look to defend their NA territory

What to expect from Complexity v. Imperial

Is yet another Overpass decider on the cards?

Regardless of where the two teams sit in the rankings, no matter what form they are in at the time, it is near impossible to predict how the series between Complexity and Imperial will go. Developing quite a rivalry, fans of Counter-Strike should be ready for a barnburner every time with these two squads, and with a spot in the semifinals of BLAST Spring Finals on the line the stakes are high for this very anticipated clash.

Can the hometown heroes defend their turf?

Complexity's season has been mostly underwhelming. Despite a phenomenal run at IEM Katowice where the squad fell just short of playoffs at the hands of the most recent Major champions Outsiders, the North Americans have failed to recapture that scintillating form.

21st-28th at ESL Pro League Season 17, out in groups at ESL Challenger Melbourne, and a single BO1 win at the BLAST.tv Paris Major, Complexity has one more chance for a strong finish in the USA's capital. Missing out on playing in front of the home crowd at IEM Dallas, Complexity should be especially motivated in the same way Imperial was when they infamously defeated the NA team to qualify for the Rio Major. Following their nail-biting win over Astralis to set up this clash, Complexity has it all to play for today.

  • floppy has stepped up with a 1.11 rating

  • Stand-in Sonic has fallen off statistically since his impeccable IEM Dallas run

  • JT and T.c need to adapt to this in-form Imperial lineup

Imperial on fire

Rumors have been swirling as of late with Imperial, specifically surrounding their IGL, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the future of the lineup, Imperial has looked like a team possessed thus far in Washington D.C.

Beating newly crowned Major champions Vitality in convincing fashion to open up their account in the US, bitter disappointment followed against G2 as they lost 2-1, even looking like the series was there for the taking at points. Making it to the Spring Finals from the Showdown, Imperial's confidence heading into this affair will be boosted by the fact they dispatched Complexity in the first round of the Showdown.

  • Chelo has led the way with a 1.15 rating

  • Imperial have been punching above their weight, currently ranked number 33 in the world

  • FalleN has a 0.90 rating, his lowest on LAN in a year. Is his mind elsewhere?

Previous Matchups

This will be the fifth meeting between these two teams since their clash at the Americas RMR for the IEM Rio Major back in October 2022. That game went in Imperial's favor 2-1 after a brawl on Overpass which required multiple overtimes. The NA squad emerged victorious at EPL Season 17 before Imperial came out on top at the aforementioned Showdown. Complexity won the most recent matchup, eliminating Imperial from the Paris Major RMR. Despite losing last time out, Imperial will be the favorite here considering their recent form.

Likely Vetoes

  • Imperial permaban Anubis

  • Complexity permaban Mirage

  • Imperial pick Inferno: comfortable and Complexity lost last four straight

  • Complexity pick Nuke: beat Imperial last time on it

  • Overpass decider: both teams love it and think they can beat each other on it

This fixture has not let us down thus far and with it being the fifth meeting and ending the loser's season, there is a significant amount on the line for both teams today.

Complexity take on Imperial today at 01:00PM.
