Renegades take down G2; Liquid survive OT again

After a pair of overtime victories, Liquid may consider changing their mascot to a cat.

Renegades would begin Cobblestone in promising fashion, starting with a team ace in the pistol round on their Terrorist side. Kenny "kennyS" Schrub would momentarily halt their progress with a triple kill and round win, but only four straight round wins at the end of the half would salvage it for G2 with a 10-5 score line.

Renegades kept up the pressure with a second-half pistol win and four additional rounds, bringing them to fifteen rounds and match point. At this point G2 geared up their offense, winning four straight rounds and forcing Renegades onto a pistol buy. But the Australian/North American mix had a final trick up their sleeve, as a quintet of CZ kills from Justin "jks" Savage and Karlo "USTILO" Pivac took the round and map over the line in favor of Renegades.

Renegades will next face the European juggernaut of FaZe, whereas G2 will go up against the Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov-led Gambit.

Liquid kicked off Mirage by winning their Terrorist pistol, and added two rounds as well. The teams would trade the next two rounds, before Gambit seized hold of the half with a streak of five wins, ultimately ending the half with a 10-5 advantage.

Gambit would win the following pistol, but Liquid immediately bounced back with five of their own. The remainder of the half transpired in see-saw fashion, with Liquid gritting out a round win on 15-14 in Gambit's favor to bring the match to overtime.

It was here that Liquid fully regained composure, allowing Gambit only a single round, and finishing the match with an authoritative A defense to finish the map with a score of 19-16.
