Muenster un-retires to coach the Party Astronauts

The former Vikings player and coach announced he had retired just over a week and a half ago.

Joseph "Muenster" Lima has announced that he is set to join MDL team Party Astronauts as their new coach for the next MDL Season.

This season, Muenster played a handful of matches for Vikings in ESEA Advanced as they finished mid-table with a 6-10 record. Last season, he played in the majority of Vikings' matches as they secured a playoff spot, before falling to blitz.

Muenster is likely more well-known as a coach, having acted in such a role for a number of seasons during Vikings' rise to, and including MDL for season 28, and having taken part in the subsequent relegation tournament.

What makes Muenster's announcement slightly more perplexing is that the coach announced his retirement from the competitive scene just under two weeks ago, at the end of the ESEA Advanced regular season. The move also sees Muenster reunite with former teammate Casey "SideStep" Hartzler, with the two having competed alongside each other for just under a year with Vikings, before SideStep left to join the then-Excelerate team in August 2018.

This means Party Astronauts' roster is as follows:

  • United States Brenden "stellar" McGrath
  • United States Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue
  • United States Ben "ben1337" Smith
  • United States Nick "zeptic" Kaoud
  • United States Casey "SideStep" Hartzler
  • United States Joseph "Muenster" Lima (Coach)

Party Astronauts are next in action this Sunday for the Mythic Cup, where they were one of seven teams to receive an invite. The team will also be in action for Season 31 of ESEA MDL.
