Maluk3 was a beast for oNe against Spacestation

oNe and Rogue open StarSeries qualifier with wins

Hiko and co. won the battle of the stand-ins, but oNe had to work a bit harder against Spacestation.

The North American qualifier for StarSeries i-League Season 7 kicked off yesterday, with two opening matches occurring in Group A. It was Rogue and the Brazilians of oNe who emerged victorious from the bouts.

The first match-up saw Rogue facing off against Vireo.pro, both of whom were present in Dallas this weekend for EPL Relegation and the ESEA MDL Season 29 Global Challenge, respectively.

As first reported by Dust2.us, Rogue were fielding Jesper "TENZKI" Plougmann in place of Ricardo "Rickeh" Mulholland, with the Australian in his native country attending to visa issues. Vireo.pro had a stand-in of their own in the form of Ben "ben1337" Smith, filling in for the currently empty fifth spot on the team.

Neither team seemed unduly burdened by their circumstances, with Train narrowly going the way of Rogue, with the two Danes topping the scoreboard for the Pro League side. Nuke was a more decisive victory for Rogue, with the longest-tenured members of the team, Daniel "vice" Kim and Spencer "Hiko" Martin putting in good work.

The series between Spacestation and oNe was more hotly contested. As again first reported here by Dust2.us, Spacestation fielded Anthony "gMd" Guimond in their fifth spot. The young French Canadian did not disappoint in the opening map of Mirage, helping lead his new quad to the map victory.

From there, however, things went south for Spacestation, as they suffered a 16-3 blowout on Overpass. gMd again turned in a great performance on Train, but he and David "DAVEY" Stafford could not overcome the sheer output of frags from Pedro "Maluk3" Campos.
