MSL led by example against Singularity

Rogue defeat Singularity; to ESL Pro League Season 9

Singularity return to MDL for another season.

The final ESL Pro League Season 8 Relegation matchup has concluded, seeing Rogue retain their EPL slot with a 2-0 win over Singularity (16-7 Mirage, 16-13 Overpass). While Rogue are through to EPL Season 9, Singularity will return to MDL for the upcoming season.

Before Rogue had the chance to reclaim their EPL slot, they had to take down cantwinalan in the lower bracket final. They made short work of the MDL team, dispatching of them in two 16-3 map wins on Nuke and Inferno.

The consolidation final was Singularity's second shot at an EPL slot after they fell to Envy earlier in the day, with their own map pick of Mirage up first. Rogue started off on the CT side, picking up a 3-0 lead before Singularity were able to even the score with three rounds of their own. Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen helped Rogue seize control as they worked their way up to an 11-4 scoreline, granting Singularity just a single additional T side round before closing out the half.

Singularity inched closer to evening the score with a win in the second half pistol round, but found themselves quickly on the back foot once Rogue's economy stabilized and MSL's side pushed forward to match point. A last ditch effort by Singularity granted them one last round in the match, but Rogue were swift to take the series to their own pick of Overpass with a 16-7 win.

In similar fashion, Rogue began Overpass with a 3-0 lead before Singularity got themselves on the board with a round of their own. Rogue quickly reset Singularity's economy, but immediately found themselves out of cash as Victor "food" Wong and co. replied with four rounds of their own to take the lead. Rogue managed to even the score in the ensuing round, but Singularity took firm control off the back of Josh "oSee" Ohm finding four frags in a 2vs5 retake to win out the half 10-5.

Rogue won their third pistol round of the series in the second half of Overpass, allowing them to narrow the deficit to 10-8 after a few tense rounds. Singularity broke the streak with a round win of their own, putting them just one round away from breaking the Rogue economy, but MSL stepped up by finding four kills for his team and allowed for Rogue to take an additional four rounds and regain the lead at 13-11.

Singularity fought back, winning a 3vs5 to help put another two rounds on the board, but were unable to maintain momentum as Hunter "SicK" Mims found four frags to allow Rogue to regain control. MSL helped to end the series with three kills in the final round, allowing for Rogue to retain their spot in EPL next season.
