ANDROID-X23 led the way for compLexity's comeback

compLexity mount a comeback to move past Torqued

A comeback on the first map allowed for a 2-0 victory for the team with two stand-ins.

compLexity have claimed a 2-0 victory over Torqued in their opening bout of ESL Pro League's Season 7 Relegation, advancing them in the upper bracket with just one more best-of-three series separating them from securing a spot in Season 8. Inferno, Cache, and Train were the proving grounds for the first series, with Torqued's map pick of Inferno up first.

Fielding Alec "Slemmy" White and Andrew "Professor_Chaos" Heintz in the places of Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and Shazeb "ShahZaM" Khan due to the players joining the team after the transfer deadline, the road for compLexity seemed difficult.

Their in-game leader and star AWPer were both absent, and their recent performances had shown considerable improvement with the new additions — now they'd have to show that they could compete without them if they hoped to give themselves as many opportunities as possible to hold onto their EPL slot.

Joshua "steel" Nissan and co. had shown considerable prowess on Inferno both online and on LAN over the course of the past few months, comfortably first-picking the map against many opponents. Their decision to pick Inferno seemed to have paid off as the series got underway, seeing Torqued rack up seven rounds on their T side before compLexity put a halt to their run.

With the infamous 7-1 scoreline in play Torqued immediately halted compLexity in their tracks with a full economic reset, allowing for a 10-1 scoreline to emerge. Braxton "swag" Pierce  continued to lead the way for Torqued to take a firm 12-3 half victory, all but ensuring a map victory for Torqued should the second pistol round go their way.

Their hopes were quashed as compLexity began mounting a comeback, with a lackluster CT side from Torqued and Bradley "ANDROID-X23" Fodor matching swag's performance from the first half allowing compLexity to take 9 rounds in a row to tie up the match at 12-12.

In a similar fashion to compLexity's CT side, Torqued were able to secure a few rounds towards the latter portion of the half, but only after compLexity had already claimed match point.

With overtime underway a back-and-forth between the two sides saw rounds exchanged into a second OT, where compLexity came out on top to secure the first map.

compLexity's map pick of Cache was a far more simple affair after their comeback in the previous map. Torqued found the first pistol round to give themselves a 3-0 lead, but were only able to secure three more rounds in the first half to compLexity's nine.

The second half was brutal for Torqued as the pistol round went the way of compLexity, granting a 12-6 lead. Although steel & co. took the first gun round for themselves, a reset in the subsequent round sealed their fate as compLexity gave only one more round away before taking the map and series.

compLexity will now go on to face the winner of Swole Patrol versus ex-Splyce, with the victor of that matchup securing a slot in EPL Season 8. Torqued will face the loser of the same series in the lower bracket, with the winner of that match playing a third series for a second slot in Season 8.
