Dignitas fe end RES's chances of Katowice repeat
Having cruised through their opening day group, Dignitas had the unenviable task of taking on RES and Christine "potter" Chi in the semifinals. The maps selected for the tilt were Inferno, Nuke, and Train.
Dignitas got off to a good start on their CT-side of Inferno, but were immediately set by RES, who seven rounds in a row. The North Americans mounted a nice comeback, however, bringing the scoreline to 7-8.
The second half was mostly all RES, with Ksenia "vilga" Kluenkova leading the charge. Dignitas were able to pick up sporadic rounds, but unable to stop RES in their relentless push for sixteen rounds, which they did eventually accumulate, taking the first map of the series.
Moving on to Nuke, their own pick, Dignitas again won the opening pistol but immediately let the international mix get back in the game. However, at 3-1, the North Americans turned on the jets, taking nine rounds in a row. The half would end 11-4 in their favor shortly thereafter.
After taking the second pistol of the map, all that was left to do for Dignitas was mop up the remnants of RES. While the international mixture were able to crack a bombsite in the fifth round of the half, Dignitas immediately regrouped to take the map over the line, tieing the series.
Now in the unfamiliar position of being on their back foot, RES took the Terrorist pistol on Train, but Dignitas stormed back to take the half 11-4 after a seven round streak. RES extended their tournament life with a second pistol win, but again were able to convert it into more rounds, as Dignitas were not to be stopped, and garnered another convincing map win to the tune of 16-6.

The ladies of Dignitas now advance to the grand finals of the Intel Challenge Katowice for the second year in a row — though this time with no Secret/Dynasty waiting for them. They await the winners of the upcoming match between Squared fe and Keyd Stars fe, to determine which team they will battle for the first place prize of $25,000. That match is set to take place tomorrow at 11:00 AM EST.
While RES's dreams of repeating as champions for a fourth year in a row have been dashed, they still have money and pride to play for — they will take on the loser of the match between Squared and Keyd Stars.
