FaZe heads to StarSeries semis after dispatching of Renegades

FaZe made relatively short work of Renegades in a 2-0 victory, securing their spot in the semifinals of the StarSeries playoffs.

The second quarterfinal of the day began on Inferno where the newly revised roster of Renegades faced-off against the FaZe super team. Starting on the T-side, Renegades dove right in with an aggressive play up mid to the A-site where they would claim the first round, after Noah "Nifty" Francis won his 1v2 clutch. They began to run away with a hefty round lead before FaZe finally responded in round six. Once they woke up, FaZe won out the half with an 8-7 lead.

After swapping sides, Renegades struggled to match the aggression from FaZe as they blew through sites with confidence, racking up three quick rounds. Once composed and economy stabilized, Renegades was able to hold their own with the proper utility at their disposal. They were able to tie up the scoreline at 13-13 but FaZe's early round picks kept netting them man advantages that made Renegades unable to sustain proper holds on their sites. FaZe closed out Inferno 16-13 and headed immediately into Cache.

From start to finish FaZe had complete control of Cache. While Renegades won the pistol round on their starting T-side, FaZe was able to reply with a force-buy and a defuse to net them some extra money going into round three. The weapons they were able to pick-up from the previous round were able to be used to boost their economy enough to maintain control of the game even after Renegades finally had money again to buy. They ran away with the round lead on their CT-side and ended the half 11-4.

With their backs against the wall, Renegades was only five rounds from being on the chopping block in Kiev. Being the aggressive team that they are, FaZe was able to overwhelm Renegades for the remainder of the game after taking the pistol round cleanly. Little was present in the way of a proper defense while Renegades was on low economy buys, as they continually got picked off before executes occured. FaZe closed out the map with a clean Terrorist side with a very one-sided 16-4 scoreline. They now advance to the semifinals and await to see who they will play after the conclusion of Na'Vi vs. Astralis.

Dust2 Birthday cake!
Solid effort from Renegades, that first map was tight. Looking pretty good for a team who just lost their star player.
