Two maps were enough for Liquid, securing the lower bracket finals spot

Liquid take down Torqued, to Lower Bracket Final

After a close first map, a more straightforward second saw Liquid continue their tournament run.

The first lower bracket match of the day saw Liquid come up against Torqued in the lower bracket semi-final. With both teams looking for a spot in the lower bracket final, the two were to take fight on Mirage, Train and Cache.

Liquid started off strong on their T-side, taking the pistol round and the following two anti-ecos before securing their lead with the first buy round, albeit a narrow one. Torqued then secured the following round and started a strong run of rounds, including one where Joshua "steel" Nissan took four kills to single-handedly secure the B bombsite.

With Torqued narrowly taking the lead, Liquid returned fire to forcefully take their lead back. Nick "nitr0" Cannella planted multiple firm kills to force their attacks through, making sure to secure the lead in the half. Torqued took back a round but it was Liquid who had the final laugh, taking a 9-6 lead into the second half.

The second half saw Torqued's T-side come in with the pistol round, but Liquid instantly answered back with a forcebuy before Torqued returned fire with an eco and Kenneth "koosta" Suen's Deagle 3k. From there Torqued took ahold of the second half, pulling themselves to an equal scoreline, before Liquid secured a round to keep their lead.

But that was it for another few rounds as Torqued took the next three rounds to edge closer to potentially cause an upset on their opponents map pick. Liquid took one more round before Torqued took themselves to 14, on the brink of a win.

But Liquid weren't letting their opponents through just yet. Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken started their eco round, before Torqued fell without damaging their opponents. From there Liquid secured the next two rounds to place themselves on map point, before Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski planted a couple kills to secure the final round of the map for a 16-14 win.

After narrowly missing out on the first map, Torqued began Train with the pistol round on their T-side. But the Magnificent van Dulken answered back straight away, as Twistzz secured a magnificent Deagle ace to bring Liquid immediately into the game. From there Liquid completed a six round streak, backed up by key performances from new teammate Keith "NAF" Markovic.

The two sides then proceeded to trade rounds, with no one really taking an advantage over the other. Then (Canadian) steel and co. secured an advantage over their opponents, with Braxton "swag" Pierce and Matt "Pollo" Wilson taking a key role in the remaining rounds of the half. But it was Liquid keeping a narrow advantage with a 8-7 lead.

The second half started off looking strong for Torqued, before Lucas "steel" Lopes  secured a 1v3 to complete an ace. They pushed on with the two anti-ecos and secured the first buy round to start an unreturned five round run.

A change in tactics proved successful for Torqued, with Pollo pulling off a 3k to get their first CT-side round on the board. But Liquid instantly answered back, taking themselves to the key 14th round, before taking match point. With Torqued staving off the end for one last round, Liquid swiftly secured their final round for a 16-9 win.
