Update: Eros part ways with quick and ninja; in search of new coach

With ESL Challenger League Season 40 quickly approaching Eros still needs to round out their coaching staff.

With little time remaining before the inaugural season of ESL Challenger League Eros find themselves without their coach, Aurele "quick" Hebert, and their assistant coach and analyst, Erich "ninja" Beyer.

Both quick and ninja have been with the roster through multiple rebuilds and multiple seasons of ESEA Premier dating back to when they represented GGPR. The roster initially broke into ESEA's top flight via ESEA Season 35 Relegation, where they bested Kinship and SKDC.

GGPR was the team I wanted to coach, I agreed with Beakie to stick around for one season on Eros as coach. I fulfilled my agreement now I’m headed to play CS with my friends. No more coaching for me unless the team is worth it.

- Aurele "quick" Hebert

In ESEA Premier Season 39 Eros picked up wins against Northern Forces and Big Chillin to finish in a three-way tie for fifth in Group A with Northern Forces and ONET4P. Eros were granted a spot in ESL Challenger League Season 40 based on round differential, as the three tied sides all beat one another in regular season play.

Dust2.us was told by both Cory "shutout" Frymark and Adam "freshie" Paterson that the roster was in the process of trying out new coaches and that they were simply looking for someone that better fit the roster's needs at this time. freshie in particular noted that everyone left the move on good terms.

quick and ninja echoed that sentiment, wishing their former players all the best for the future.

Very proud of my team and I think they deserve one singular head coach and somebody who can dedicate more time to them, which is not something I can do at this time. I will still support them and I will be around the team checking in here and there but for now this is it for me. [Whether] I decide to come back I still don't know yet.

- Erich "ninja" Beyer

ninja in particular noted that he was proud of some of the results that the team had achieved this past season despite a losing outcome, namely their matches against paiN and Triumph, where Eros gave the two playoff-quality sides a serious fight.

Eros have no shortage of players, but are still without a coach:

  • Canada Brody "BeaKie" Kelly
  • United States John "JTMythic" Timmermann
  • United States Cory "shutout" Frymark
  • United States Kevin "omniscient" Ma
  • Canada Adam "freshie" Paterson
  • United States Josh "sava9e" Lundquist (Substitute)
  • Canada Sean "Inseaniac" Morrison (Substitute)

ESL Challenger League Season 40 is slated to begin on January 18th.

Update: Dust2.us has added commentary from quick and ninja that was received following publication.
