Party Astronauts win Mythic Summer Series 2021 Cup 2 over RBG
With tonight's 2-1 victory Party Astronauts have secured their second Mythic Summer Cup 2021 title. Meanwhile, this iteration's runner up, RBG, have booked a ticket to Fragadelphia 15, with some funds specifically designated for helping with their travel expenses.
Party Astronauts conceded 14 total rounds in their first round matchup against heretic's daycare center, spearheaded by a 44 kill performance from Wesley "viz" Harris.
After trading the first two highly contested maps Recon 5 battered Third Impact on the Inferno decider to advance to the semifinals, though Keanu "DaneJoris" Reyes led all fraggers with 63 kills in the loss.
Secret Club's debut performance with their new roster was spoiled by one of their former players, Anthony "CLASIA" Kearney. CLASIA popped off with 73 kills in the series, while no one on Secret Club managed to finish with more than 50 frags.
Brazen managed to turn some heads as they stole Vertigo away from Triumph before eventually falling on the Mirage decider. Eddie "hydrik" Olsen led all players with 62 frags in the series, though Brendan "Bwills" Williams wasn't far behind with 61 kills of his own.
Party Astronauts promptly dispatched Recon 5 with a pair of 16-10 victories to advance to the grand final. Both Gage "Infinite" Green and Ben "ben1337" Smith contributed 41 frags to the cosmic cause, while Recon 5 were led by Kellar "SLIGHT" Nilan with 36 kills in the series loss.

In the other semifinal RBG needed all three maps to get past Triumph, narrowly reverse sweeping their ESEA Premier rivals with a pair of 16-13 wins on Dust2 and Nuke after dropping the Overpass opener. Colby "Walco" Walsh led all players with 64 kills, while David "cynic" Polster led Triumph with 62 frags as the funny deer team bowed out.

Party Astronauts made it look like this series was going to be an absolute blowout on Dust2. RBG's two CT-sided rounds were all that they managed to secure in the opening map of the series as they quickly found themselves down 1-0 at the hands of Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue and Infinite, who both posted ratings higher than 2.00 for Party Astronauts.
But even after being routed RBG bounced back, quickly turning a slim 8-7 halftime disadvantage on Overpass into a decisive map win with a flawless second half CT-side. Walco led all players with 21 kills as RBG evened the series at one map apiece.
The Inferno decider looked like it could favor the underdogs as RBG claimed an early 7-1 lead, but then Walco and friends watched that control slip away, finishing with just a 8-7 lead at halftime. Party Astronauts mounted a strong defense in the second half, where they eventually grinded out a thirty-round victory and won the final five rounds to secure the map, series, and cup title.
Infinite led Party Astronauts with 24 kills in the win, a feat only bested by the duo of Jadan "HexT" Postma and Connor "chop" Sullivan, who each finished with 26 frags for RBG in the loss.
