ESEA Premier to adopt ESL Pro League rules for Season 38 and beyond

The underlying goal is to elevate the prestige of ESEA's top flight and set it apart from the lower tiers.

Yesterday ESEA announced that starting with ESEA Premier Season 38 the league will follow the ESL Pro League's ruleset rather than their own. The current ESEA rules will remain in place until the conclusion of ESEA Premier Season 37 Relegation, but the ESEA administrative team is hopeful that releasing the news of this change now will give teams ample time to adjust during the offseason.

ESEA acknowledged in their announcement that there is a distinct difference in the lower tiers of their competitive leagues where it is commonplace to band together with friends to start playing CS:GO at a truly competitive level, as opposed to Premier, where the standard of being one step away from ESL Pro League is truly higher and should be reflected in the governance of the league.

The intention of these changes is to heighten expectations from teams in terms of professionalism and to help teams acclimate to things like the importance of production quality in advance of making it to the big stage as a part of EPL.

The entire ESEA announcement can be found here.

ESEA Premier teams and hopeful ESEA Advanced teams should familiarize themselves with these rules now:

  • The general ESL Pro League ruleset can be found here.
  • The ESL Pro League transfer regulations can be found here.
  • The ESL Pro League match rules can be found here.

The ESEA Premier playoffs continue tonight at 7PM EDT.
