Premier Recap Weeks 4-6 - Five playoff spots up for grabs in final week
Three more weeks of regular season play have come and gone in ESEA Premier Season 37, seeing Party Astronauts, paiN, and Extra Salt lock in playoff spots. Meanwhile, oNe, Third Impact, RBG, GGPR, Secret Club, ChocoCheck, and Triumph are still battling in their respective groups for one of the five spots remaining.
Starting with Group A, Party Astronauts and paiN have been carving a path of destruction, with both teams not dropping a single map over the past three weeks while maintaining their perfect records. This week will see the two squads face off on June 16th, the result of which likely determining which team will claim the number one seed in Group A.
As for the teams still fighting for a spot in playoffs, oNe has the most straightforward path, as with a 5-2 record they need only best RBG on June 15th, while RBG will need to win this series and hope Third Impact lose to both paiN and CENSRD.
Over in Group B, Extra Salt locked in their playoffs spot back in week four following one-sided wins over Big Chillin and Secret Club. Their last two matches of the regular season against ChocoCheck and GGPR are largely a formality, however winning both would guarantee them the first seed.
Speaking of GGPR, since playing their first match during week three, the team have managed to put on a strong showing despite being a new lineup, boasting a 5-2 record with notable wins over Recon 5 and Secret Club. They need to beat Extra Salt this week to secure their playoffs spot of their own volition, otherwise they need to hope they aren't eclipsed by Secret Club, ChocoCheck, and Triumph.
ChocoCheck's run to playoffs notably has the potential for a number of upsets as the team have been out of action since Week 3, and have an unstable lineup at the best of times.
At the bottom of both groups the relegation situation is largely sorted out, although Recon 5 have the potential to avoid pre-relegation should they win against Triumph and the latter team fail to win either of their matches this week.
