ESEA MDL Season 35 playoffs down to top three seeds; Whalers or Secret Club will face oNe in finals
The ESEA MDL Season 35 Playoffs have just two series remaining and oNe, New England Whalers, and Secret Club left vying for the ESL Pro League Season 13 berth. The latter two squads will face off in the lower bracket final tonight for the right to challenge oNe in the grand final.
Upper bracket
Following technical issues that impacted both teams, the series between Whalers and Mythic eventually resumed where it had left off, with Mythic holding a 1-0 lead after securing their map pick of Train.
Whalers were able to bounce back and reverse sweep the stream team, thanks largely to monster performances from Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue and Jonathan "djay" Dallal, with the pair going 28-9 on Nuke and 29-14 on Inferno, respectively.

PwnAlone and co. failed to carry that momentum forward into their series with oNe. The Brazilians outlasted a 45-kill performance from PwnAlone in a double-overtime affair on Train and then decisively swept the Whalers out to sea on Inferno.
oNe leaned heavily on the sole non-Brazilian member of their lineup in this series, as Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa led the way for the team with 57 kills in the series. PwnAlone led Whalers on Inferno with 21 frags, finishing with a series-high 66 kills in the loss.

Lower bracket
Secret Club used back-to-back strong second halves to sweep and eliminate Rebirth, with the latter team managing just four rounds in the second half of each map after initially holding Secret Club to slim leads.
Ethan "reck" Serrano led Secret Club with 24 frags on Vertigo while it was Collin "wrath" McSweegan that did the heavy lifting on Overpass with 32 kills for Secret Club. Kevin "4pack" Przypasniak and Ali "phantom" Sachs each had 37 kills in the series loss for Rebirth.

Depth looked like they were going to keep things interesting when they opened the series with seven rounds on their T-side of Overpass, but were completely exploited by Mythic while on the defensive side of the server. They managed just three CT-sided wins as Eric "adreN" Hoag paved the way for Mythic with 24 kills.
Mythic wrapped the series up quickly and jumped out to a 12-3 lead after their CT-side of Vertigo. They alternated rounds with Depth in the second half and picked up their sixteenth after just two match points. Erik "fl0m" Flom led his stream team and the server with 23 frags to complete the sweep.

Secret Club jumped out to an 11-4 lead on Vertigo and never looked back as they stole away Mythic's map pick. fl0m and friends brought the scoreline all the way back to 14-11, but Secret Club swiftly converted their first match point to send the series to Inferno. reck led the server with 28 kills for Secret Club, while David "DAVEY" Stafford led Mythic with 20 frags.
Secret Club successfully fended off a comeback attempt by Mythic in round thirty to eliminate the stream team in just two maps. They squandered five match points in a row before finally breaking through when it counted most and finished the map in regulation. adreN led the server with 27 kills in the loss, but Adam "WolfY" Andersson wasn't far behind with 26 frags for the victors.
