Dignitas fe and CLG Red advance to DreamHack Showdown Summer upper bracket final

The two invited lineups breezed through their opening matches on the first day of play.

Day one of DreamHack Showdown Summer North America has come to a close, seeing the event's favorites, Dignitas fe and CLG Red, comfortably advance into the upper bracket finals, while the four qualified teams are set to face off tomorrow in the lower bracket.

In round one, Able White began the day with a strong 2-0 victory over Dangerous Game, winning Dust2 16-8 and Train 16-10. During the series, former Dignitas fe trial player Julie "Bouchard" Bouchard and Cathryn "exhile" Rudawsky had strong performances, ending the series with 1.51 and 1.48 ratings, respectively.

The following match saw That's what she said best silhouette 2-1. Beginning on Train, That's what she said claimed their map pick 16-9 without trouble, bolstered by a standout performance from Valita "minnieyo" Chailert. Moving onto Inferno, silhouette had their turn in the driver's seat as they tied the series up with a 16-8 scoreline. With the series tied, another massive performance from minnieyo paved the way for That's what she said to win Mirage 16-9.

In the second round, the invited teams had their chance to shine as Dignitas fe faced off against Able White while CLG Red played That's what she said.

Starting with Dignitas fe's bout, it was a relatively uneventful affair as Melisa "Theia" Mundorff and co. handily defeated Able White 16-9 on their map pick of Inferno. On Dignitas fe's map pick of Train, Able White performed notably better, holding Dignitas fe at bay to end the half down by a single round. However, once Dignitas switched to their CT-side, they mounted a near perfect performance, only allowing two bomb plants before winning the map 16-7.
