Jonji's strong performance on Dust2 got Chaos off on the right foot in the grand final

Chaos best Triumph in WINNERS League Season 4 Invite grand final

The two most recent MDL champions squared off for the Season 4 crown.

WINNERS League Season 4 has concluded with Chaos defeating Triumph 2-0, though the series was much closer than the scoreline indicates. The result is a marked improvement for both teams in respect to the league, as they both finished 5-8th in the previous iteration.

Prior to tonight's match, the event's quarterfinals went as expected, seeing Triumph and Yeah find 2-0 victories over Thunder Logic and Levitate, respectively. RBG stole away Chaos' map pick prior to getting reverse swept and Recon 5 were washed away by New England Whalers, managing just seven rounds in the final two maps of the series after taking the first.

Things were also pretty clear-cut in the semifinals,  as Chaos held Whalers to single digits in both maps with Erick "Xeppaa" Bach leading the way with 42 kills. Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue was the only Whalers player that managed a positive K/D in the series as the MDL champs rolled through into another grand final.

In the first map of the grand finals, Dust2, it was Jonathan "Jonji" Carey that shouldered the load for Chaos, posting 29 frags and managing to outduel Grim by a slim margin. Both Xeppaa and Nathan "leaf" Orf added twenty kill games of their own, but the reigning MDL champions still just barely eked out a 16-14 win to take the lead in the series.

On Mirage Paytyn "Junior" Johnson found 34 kills, 25 of which came courtesy of the AWP. Grim managed to break through and capitalize on some early underpass aggression on CT side to give Triumph a shot at map three, but they couldn't hold off the Chaos retake in round thirty and the match headed to overtime, where Josh "steel" Nissan's side would ultimately prevail.
